Pieter Gaudesaboos
Pieter Gaudesaboos is a Belgian artist who loves bringing humorous, sparkling and cheerful fantasy into his work. Inspired by the fifties and sixties, he uses colours and designs with a touch of nostalgia but nevertheless in a new, contemporary setting. He applies collages and mixed media together with a strong digital input, resulting in a very distinctive, fresh style. The compositions are challenging and resolutely graphical, characterized by a rich colour palette. The many and meticulously composed details make his work surprising and fascinating.
I like to present my work as an amusement park where you can walk around enjoying the atmosphere and discover what you like most. – Pieter Gaudesaboos –
His debuut Roodlapje (2003) made a strong impression and left him several awards which allowed him a major breakthrough as an illustrator. Being also a graphic designer he prefers to design his books himself.
